What we ordered:
Casa Nono is a Mexican restaurant in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. It is from the same owners of Osteria Brooklyn, an Italian restaurant, which I visited for brunch as well. The vibe is casual and the food is traditional with a modern twist. The staff was friendly and attentive. We started off with complimentary mini quesadillas served with their homemade salsa trio. It was a good start to a tasty meal.

Casa Nono’s drink menu consists of special reserve tequila, margaritas, beer, cocktails, mezcalitas, red, white and sparkling wine. The mezcalita de pina with 30 Banhez mezcal, grilled pineapple, jalapeño, cilantro, fresh lime served in a pineapple for two caught my attention. It’s the sole alcoholic drink we ordered. I’m not usually a fan of mezcal, but this was palatable. We tried their traditional guacamole made with habanero salsa, avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, and serrano peppers. It was creamy with the perfect spice kick. We also had the camarones tiradito ceviche to start with shrimp, sesame salsa , avocado cilantro, basil, served with a corn tostada. It was very fresh and flavorful.

Casa Nono has several taco options. We tried the birria with four hour braised chuck roasted beef, marinated onion, served with consumé, the chorizo and the pescado taco baja style with crispy cod fish, spicy jicama slaw, and guacamole. All of the tacos were delicious and I definitely recommend ordering them if you go here. We also tried their burrito. I believe it was pork inside of it. Everything was flavorful and filling.

Next up, we had the paella nono with red mexican rice, shrimp, mussels, clams, chorizo, chicken, and sweet green peas. It was not the best paella I ever had, but was delicious nonetheless. We all really enjoyed it.

I definitely recommend going to Lagano. The service is excellent and the food is delicious.
For dessert we ended with the tres leches cake and coconut cake. Both were really good. I preferred the tres leches, but the coconut cake was moist (hate that word) and exceeded my expectations. I recommend trying both of them.
Overall, this is a great restaurant to gather with friends over drinks and delicious Mexican eats. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area.
